Ethical Initiatives for Nations Development

Congress WBN Values

Congress WBN is committed to collaborating with governments toward sustainable national development.  In this regard, we do not view sustainable development as an elusive economic term but rather embrace the concept that effective and sustainable nation-building must be founded on deliberate, strategic, and focused attention to all aspects of human development – moral, economic, social, and cultural.

In addition, we view national development as being predicated on understanding not only the current but more importantly the potential role of developing countries in a global future context.  Accurate understanding of this role allows the identification of the pathway or distinct steps toward fulfilling a national destiny.

Human Development

This is the core objective of all Congress activity as evidenced in projects such as:

  • Establishment of NorthGate College, Trinidad
  • Establishment of Northgate Business Institute, Lagos, Nigeria
  • The Sishemo: Project for Training Displaced Orphans, Lusaka, Zambia
  • Tumaini: Increasing Public Awareness through Drama, Nairobi, Kenya
  • National Youth Steel Orchestra and Leadership Development Program, Belize
  • Youth Development Program at St. Michaels Home for Boys, Trinidad

Community Development

Communities are the building blocks of a nation.  C-WBN engages in several community development initiatives which include:

  • Las Lomas Community Empowerment, Trinidad
  • Dangriga Male Empowerment Initiative, Belize
  • HIV/AIDS Projects, Zambia and Kenya
  • Environmental Program in Githurai Housing Estate, Nairobi, Kenya
  • Adult & Youth Computer Literacy Centres, Trinidad

National Development

In addition to our human and community development initiatives, C-WBN also seeks to impact the governance of nations through:

  • Strategic Partnerships in Leadership Development in the public and private sectors
  • E-Government Development Seminars in partnership with the Commonwealth Secretariat
  • Diplomatic initiatives to several nations through the Congress’s Office of Diplomatic Affairs
